M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) Let's start by talking about the SAW, a weapon that has been in army use since 1987. The M-249 SAW is a lightweight weapon. It is gas-operated. Made by FN Manufacturing of Columbia, South Carolina, it is a one-man-portable automatic weapon. The M-249 Squad Automatic has the capacity to deliver a large volume of effective weapon fire at ranges up to 800 meters (about half a mile). This weapon is used primarily by individuals and small units and delivers lethal and accurate fire to the target.
This weapon provides Army and Marine infantry squads as well as other fire teams with the capability to shoot at from farther away than with a rifle. It is also possible to deliver fire for longer periods of time because the weapon is light and carries a 200-round magazine. However, gunners can optionally choose a 30-round magazine instead.
M24 Sniper Weapons System (SWS) With the M24 Sniper's Weapon System (SWS), the United States Army introduces its return to the use of bolt action sniper rifles. As with other sniper models, the M24 uses the laudable and highly-regarded Remington 700 action In the case of the M24, the receiver has been modified and has the ability to take the .300 Winchester Magnum round. . There is a five-round internal magazine.The M24 SWS has an adjustable butt plate and its stock is made of graphite, fiberglass, and Kevlar. The sniper features detachable bipod which, at the gunner's choosing, can be attached to the stock's fore-end.
This army gun is an extraordinarily accurate sniping system, and stands head-and-shoulders above most snipers. The two-foot long barrel and detachable bipod allow for absolutely pinpoint accuracy. There are also detachable emergency iron sights.
M-9 Pistol The M-9 is a semi-automatic pistol in use by the U.S. Army since 1990. It is a 9mm weapon with a range of fifty meters (164 feet). The magazine has a 15 round capacity and weighs 860 grams (almost 2 pounds). It has a reversible magazine release button so that it can be positioned for either right- or left-handed combatants.
Before the M-9 became the official pistol used by the Army, that honor was held by the 45-caliber M1911A1. To a certain extent, the M11 pistol and some other models are also used by the Army. The M-9 is also the standard pistol used by the United States Air Force.
Use of the M-9 has not been without controversy. There have been concerns raised about its stopping power and the possibility of mechanical defects, specifically in regard to the magazine springs.
RPK (Ruchnoy Pulemyot Kalashnikova) If you are interested in classic weapons of the Vietnam War, your attention is surely on the RPK! The Ruchnoy Pulemyot Kalashnikova began its use in the US Armed Forces in 1961. It is a powerful weapon that was developed from the PK series. It bears a strong external similarly in looks to the AK-47 assault rifle. This is because both the RPK and AK-47 were created by the highly-regarded and renowned weapon Mikhal Kalashnikov, for whom the RPK was named. Kalishnikova was a great hero of the USSR. Because the AK-47 was so successful and well-regarded, the USSR commissioned the RPK. The RPK is longer than the AK-47 and is fitted with a bipod so that it can handle the rigors of sustained automatic fire.
This light machine gun has been used in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Soviet War in Afghanistan, the Second Chechen War, and numerous others; it is still in use today. It weighs 4.8 kilograms (10.6 pounds) and is 1040 milimeters in length (40.9 inches). It uses 7.62x39mm ammunition.
